Thanks!


It is difficult to believe that November is already here. We just wanted to take this time to tell you how thankful we are to have the opportunity to work with your children. We certainly feel that it is a privilege!

Unfortunately, we become so busy that we forget to say “Thanks” for all that “You” do! At this “Thanksgiving Holiday”, it seems a perfect time to tell you how we appreciate you and your child!

November 9th is Young Reader’s Day. If you would like to come to our class to read your favorite book or to listen to a child read that day, please let us know if you can come and please share the title of your book.

Spelling
1.) Write each word 3 times each.

2.) Write the words in ABC order

3.) Use 5 words in sentences.

4.) Write 5 words. Write another word that means the same or almost the same.

Language Arts
1.) Circle the noun, underline the verb, and a put a box around the possessive pronoun in each sentence.

a.) The small brown puppy was licking his bone.

b.) The basketball was theirs.


2.) Write a word that you do not know. Write its definition, a sentence using the word, and draw a picture of it.

Reading

1.) Read a AR book to someone.

2.) Read a menu, newspaper, magazine, poster, recipe, etc.

Weekly Homework

Spelling

1.) Write 5 words that have ake.

2.) Write spelling words in ABC order.

3.) Write spelling words 3 times each.


Reading

 1.) Read a menu, newspaper, magazine, or road sign. Write why you chose your choice.

2.) Read your story to someone.

3.) Read another folktale. Write one paragraph about it. Include title and author.


Math

1.) Draw a picture of equal parts that equal a whole. Use ¼, 1/6, 1/2 and 1/8.

Field Trip

 Due to inclement weather the field trip has been rescheduled. We will be going on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Students will need to be here no later than 7:45. Students that planned to bring their lunch on Monday need to bring their lunch Wednesday. Parents that plan to volunteer need to let us know by tomorrow.

We Need Your Help!

Please send 1 or 2 apples for cooking with your child by Wednesday. We will be cooking them on Thursday, October 7th.

Thank you so much for the class snacks that you have sent. The children have certainly enjoyed them. The snacks help them make it until lunch. Some of their favorites are:

It is a pleasure to have Mrs. Mandy Ginn and Mrs. Morgan Floyd to work with us this year!

Johnny Appleseed's visit to Second Grade!


Johnny Appleseed's visit was very informative and interesting. He opened the door to "apple tasting."

Unit of Study!

We will be studying about "The Geographic Regions of Georgia." Look for pictures as we work.

We will travel back in time to view and compare the lives and culture of the Cherokee and Creek Native Americans.

Field Trip

     We are so excited about our upcoming field trip! It will give the children an opportunity to learn about our resources in Georgia, as well as, the U.S.
     If you have not already made plans to experience this with your child, please consider it. Just remember that you are responsible for your transportation, admission and lunch.
